Your Prospective Job:
For our renowned customer Airbus Defence and Space you are acting as Product Owner (m/f/d) for Sensor Management Capabilities within the mission systems organization.
This position is located in Ingolstadt with sporadic interactions in Manching.
Your Responsibilities:
- Own the product vision & roadmap for the sensor-control subsystem within the overall Ground Mission and Armament System
- Translate mission requirements, stakeholder needs and regulatory constraints into a clear product backlog
- Define and communicate user stories, acceptance criteria and "Definition of Done" that reflect both functional performance and systems-engineering attributes
- Work hand-in-hand with the 10-person development team
- Collaborate with Architects and Engineers to align sensor-control capabilities with system architecture and mission timelines
- Conduct backlog grooming, sprint planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives,
- Acting as the primary liaison between the team and external stakeholders
- Manage risk and compliance - maintain traceability matrices
- Ensure that safety/mission-critical standards (e.g., DO-278C) are reflected in backlog items and verified during testing
- Monitor and report key performance indicators (feature completion, defect density, sensor-performance metrics, schedule variance) to senior leadership
- Drive continuous improvement - introduce agile best practices, lean processes, and data-driven decision making within the team
- When required, evaluate software architecture options and support integration of software
Your Profile:
- Completed studies in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering or comparable
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) is desirable
- Many years of professional experience in sensor-control, avionics, autonomous systems, or other mission-critical platforms
- Experience as Product Owner, in Backlog Management, Stakeholder Management and Risk & Compliance Management
- Experience with DO-278, IEC 61508, MIL-STD-882, ARP4754 or similar safety /mission standards
- Experience with sensor suites (RADAR, EOS, etc.), real-time data acquisition and control loops
- Knowledge in delivering complex, high-stakes hardware-or-software products
- Solid understanding of system life-cycle processes, requirements engineering, architecture, integration & verification (ISO/IEC 1528, INCOSE)
- Skills in Agile practices and Scrum
- Skills in developing or integrating software (Java, Linux, Git, etc.) and CI/CD concepts is a strong plus
- User skills in Jira / Confluence, Doors, Cameo, Matlab / Simulink and Git
- Fluent English skills spoken and written
- German skills are recommended
- English CV is needed
